Anyone who paid the County’s 1.5% uniform service charge on accommodations, prepared food and beverage, and admissions to amusements, and a 2.5% uniform service charge on rental cars, purchased within the corporate limits of any Horry County municipality (“Hospitality Fee”), or will pay the Hospitality Fee in the future, is part of a class action settlement and may be entitled to reimbursement.

The City brought this class action to challenge the County’s imposition of the Hospitality Fee within the limits of any municipality without that municipality’s consent.  The parties have reached a settlement agreement in this case.  The Court certified a settlement class of all who paid the Hospitality Fee between January 1, 2017, and August 10, 2019, or will pay the Hospitality Fee and preliminarily approved this settlement agreement.

Current Status

The original claims period has closed, and a final accounting has been filed with the court.  Additional claims can be made against the settlement’s escrow account by filing the Claim Form on this website.  The Settlement Administrator must receive these claims by October 15, 2024.
